Monday, October 15th,2012

Language Arts:
  • Today the students were given their rubric for their small moment writing piece.  The writing will be done in class for the most part. The typed rough draft is due on Wednesday, October 24th and the typed final is due on Monday, October 29th.
  • All students read their chapter book that they have committed to reading for the week and wrote connections they made with the book on sticky notes to be placed in the book.

Homework:

  • Read for 20 minutes
  • Remember to have a chapter book that you are going to commit to for the next week.
  • Small Moment writing piece

                                

Social Studies:  No homework since we went to the Rouge River.

Homework: None
             
Election Updates: 
The campaign is in full effect!  The candidates will be giving speeches on Friday, October 19th.  This is their second speech and it will be on the economy.

The committees are working hard to get their candidates elected! 


Reminders:
  • Goal setting packets went home today.  I will start meeting with families on Wednesday if you want to do a “face to face conference.”  Otherwise you may email your child’s goal and I will meet with them throughout the school day. Please use the sign up link under Goal Setting on my blog.
  • Burns/Burdick Parent Teacher conferences in November are changed. We will be holding them on Thursday, November 8th and Monday, November 19th.  Look for sign ups to come soon!!

  • We worked on our Memory Box for writing.
  • Continued to work on small moment writing.

Homework:

  • Read for 20 minutes
  • Remember to have a chapter book that you are going to commit to for the next week.

Social Studies: Reviewed material for our quiz tomorrow.  They must complete the review in the packet to receive electoral votes!
