Language Arts: 

6^th Grade: NWEA testing today.

5^th Grade:   Completed a reading activity based on the current chapter book the students are reading.

• Began a short writing piece showing strong emotion.

Homework:  Remember to read nightly.

·         As always you will need a chapter book for class tomorrow!!

Social Studies: Finished ancient civilization time line activity.  Began geography vocabulary activity.  We will work on this tomorrow.  It is due on Monday.

Homework:  Cover your social studies books.  Please use a paper bag if you do not have a book cover.

6^th Grade: We began our Personal Narrative writing unit.  We continued to write about memorable moment.

5^th Grade:   Same lesson as 6^th grade.

Language Arts: 

6^th Grade: We began our Personal Narrative writing unit.  Students completed a pre- assessment writing piece. We will go over the piece tomorrow with the narrative rubric.

5^th Grade:   Same lesson as 6^th grade.

Social Studies: Students received their Ancient World textbooks and workbooks. The books are brand new.  So PLEASE COVER YOUR BOOKS!  We also began looking at ancient civilizations and geography terms.

Language Arts:

·         6^th Grade:  Today we turned in our decorated writer’s notebook for a grade and received extra credit for a decorated reader’s notebook.

·         We read in class and began writing a personal narrative.

5^th Grade:  Same lesson as 6^th grade.

Homework:

• Read for 20 minutes or more nightly.
•  

Social Studies: We read Junior Scholastic and began a worksheet based on the articles.

Homework: Worksheet due tomorrow.

Reminders:

• Field trip to Cranbrook tomorrow
• Picture day tomorrow!
• Camp is Wednesday

We had a great first day yesterday and we are ready to work today!  We started academics with math and language arts. We will add science and social studies later this week.

Language Arts:  We set up our writer's and reader's notebooks.  Decorated notebooks are due on Monday, September 8th. 

Students were also introduced to the 40 Book Challenge.  All students will be challenged to read 40+ book this year.  

* Students need a chapter book in school every day starting tomorrow.

Summer packet work is due on Friday, September 5th.


Reminders:  Water festival field trip permission slips are due on Friday, September 5th

* We go to the Water Festival on Tuesday, September 9th.
* We leave for camp on Wednesday,  September 10th
