Language Arts:
  • All students read their chapter book that they have committed to reading for the week and wrote connections they made with the book on sticky notes to be placed in the book.
  • We did a free write activity
  • Starting next week Monday, the students will be getting points each day for having their reading book with them. 
Homework:
  • Read for 20 minutes
  • Remember to have a chapter book that you are going to commit to for the next week.
  • Grammar packet is due on Wednesday, October 3rd
                                

Social Studies: Students experienced leaving life as a early human by having class in a “cave.”  Completed lesson 1 and all reading notes.

            Homework: Make sure reading notes are completed  perfectly!!      

Reminders:
  • I will be at a district meeting all day tomorrow but I will be in the building.

Social Studies: We began our first unit in social studies on the geography of early humans.

Social Studies: Election Launch!  We are starting our mock election simulation on Monday. Job letters are due on Monday. The students know and understand the expectations of this letter.

·         Burdick’s homeroom was able to check out book and has a reading assignment for tonight.  Burns’ homeroom was interrupted by the fire drill and was unable to finish the lesson.
·         5th Grade LA started a narrative writing assignment and shared with a partner.
·         6th Grade LA took a district required writing assessment.

Happy Constitution Day!!

Language Arts:
·         Today we continued to read our chapter book. The students organized our new classroom library

Social Studies: Today we celebrated Constitution Day. We watched a video on the Constitution and the role/importance of the President.  We completed a worksheet based on the video.

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year!  I am looking forward to a wonderful year with the students.

Today we went over the some of the classroom basics and we will continue this tomorrow as well. The students received their planners and schedules. Please reveiw their schedule with them so they know where they are going tomorrow.

Homework:  Please sign and return Water Fesitval field trip slip by Friday, September 7th.
