Language Arts: 

6th Grade:  The students receive their first spelling packet/activity today. They will need to go onto Spelling City to complete the activities.  They are to use their school username and password.  This is due on Monday, October 7th.  

5th Grade: Same lesson as 6th grade.

  • Also, the spelling words may seem easy for some. The students received their list based on how they performed on an in class spelling test. I explained they can always move levels based on how they perform on all writing assignments.

Homework:
  • Read nightly
  • Spelling due on 10-7

Social Studies : Continued  vocabulary packet on how America Works. The kids had 3 class periods to work on this assignment.  There will be a quiz on these vocabulary words next week.

Homework:
  • Vocab packet due on Tuesday.
  • Patriot Week project due on Wednesday, October 2nd
  • Vocab quiz on Friday.

6th Grade:  The students read for 20 minutes.  Began Crash, our class novel read aloud, and looked at literary elements used by the author in the first chapter.

5th Grade: The students read for 20 minutes. Then they did an activity on the main character of their book.  This was to be turned in at the end of class. If you did not finish it is homework.

Social Studies : Completed packets on the American Revolution. Began a vocabulary packet on how America Works.  There will be a quiz on these vocabulary words next week.

6th Grade:  The students read for 20 minutes, we had a class read aloud, ‘Rotten Ritchie and the Ultimate Dare.”  We discussed the elements of a character.
They also started their Connecting to the Character Sheet.  You must have 5 bullets per book connecting with the character(s) of the current chapter book you are reading.

5th Grade: Same lesson as 6th grade.

6th Grade:  The students read for 20 minutes and worked on reading without distractions. They began their small moment that is due tomorrow.

5th Grade: Read for 20 minutes and turned in their grammar packet. Packets that were not completed or were not turned in will be receiving a late grade. Students started their small moment that is due tomorrow.

Social Studies : Checked Junior Scholastic assignment from Friday. Began reading The American Revolution magazine and looked for the central idea in each article.

Social Studies : Celebrated Constitution Day. Complete the following essay. It is due tomorrow. You may type or write the essay. 

Think about the freedoms we enjoy as citizens of the United States. Write an essay about what it means to you to be an American. Include reasons and details to support your statements.

6th Grade:  The students read for 20 minutes and began their first grammar packet. The received a nouns packet which is a review from last year. This packet is due on Thursday. They will have a noun quiz on Friday.

5th Grade: The students read for 20 minutes and received their first grammar packet. This week we will be focusing on nouns. This packet is due on Monday.

6th Grade:  Today we went to the Media Center. The students shared their small moments from homework that night and they received a reading assessment that needs to be completed on the chapter book they are currently reading. 

5th Grade: Had the same lesson as 6th grade.

·         Complete 5 question reading assessment. Make sure you answers are detailed and in complete sentences.

Social Studies : Students worked on looking at features of informational text. The students completed a worksheet using an informational text book of their choice to identify the features.

6th Grade:  Today we read our chapter books for 20 minutes. Completed our read aloud called, Bully.  We also began brainstorming small moments and started writing our first small moment in our writer’s notebook.

6th Grade:  Today we set up our reader’s notebook and officially started the “40 Book’ challenge. The students received the requirements that they need to fulfill to reach this goal by the end of the school year.

6th Grade:  Today we went over the expectations in language arts.  The students began with reader’s workshop and practiced their writing skills by writing me a letter.

5th Grade: Had the same lesson as 6th grade.

·         Decorated writer’s notebook due on Tuesday, September 10.

Social Studies: Today students received their textbook and student notebook.  Please cover the textbooks.  Covered books will receive 5 points extra credit!
