5^th Grade: Read for 20 minutes, shared small moments, and began our “lifeline map.”

5^th Grade: Same lesson as 6^th grade.

Social Studies : Celebrated Constitution Day. Complete the following essay. It is due tomorrow. You may type or write the essay. 

Think about the freedoms we enjoy as citizens of the United States. Write an essay about what it means to you to be an American. Include reasons and details to support your statements.

Language Arts: 

6^th Grade:  The students read for 20 minutes and began their first grammar packet. The received a nouns packet which is a review from last year. This packet is due on Thursday. They will have a noun quiz on Friday.

5^th Grade: The students read for 20 minutes and received their first grammar packet. This week we will be focusing on nouns. This packet is due on Monday.

·         5^th grade noun packet due on Monday.

Social Studies : Students continued to work on text features of informational text. We also began a reading activity on Declaration of Independence.

6^th Grade:  Today we went to the Media Center. The students shared their small moments from homework that night and they received a reading assessment that needs to be completed on the chapter book they are currently reading. 

5^th Grade: Had the same lesson as 6^th grade.

Homework:

·         Make sure you are reading tonight.

·         Complete 5 question reading assessment. Make sure you answers are detailed and in complete sentences.

Social Studies : Students worked on looking at features of informational text. The students completed a worksheet using an informational text book of their choice to identify the features.

Language Arts: 

6^th Grade:  Today we read our chapter books for 20 minutes. Completed our read aloud called, Bully.  We also began brainstorming small moments and started writing our first small moment in our writer’s notebook.

5^th Grade: Had the same lesson as 6^th grade.

·         Small moment due tomorrow.

Social Studies: We completed our Colonial America lesson and continued to work on our Patriot Week project.

6^th Grade:  Today we read our chapter books for 20. The students also took a spelling test. We will be starting spelling at the end of September.  Class was shortened due to picture day.

5^th Grade: Had the same lesson as 6^th grade.

Social Studies: Today we launched our Patriot Week project. This will be a in class research activity focusing on the themes of Patriot Week.

6^th Grade:  Today we read our chapter books for 20 minutes and did a narrative pre-assessment small moment writing piece. We did this to evaluate our writing now and at the end of the marking period.
